Rick Edwards - Loss Control
Rick has spent the last twenty-four years servicing and working directly with public and private entities in
identifying, evaluating, developing and implementing various risk management programs and services.
Throughout this period of time, he has worked directly with approximately 700 out of the 1000+ public
schools in Texas. Rick’s experience spans a broad spectrum of services from property / casualty loss
control and appraisals, to workers’ compensation claims and loss control, as well as employee benefits consulting. Currently, he is responsible for the daily oversight and management of Edwards Risk Management. Rick is also engaged in the development and research of new products and services and the delivery and marketing of all services. Rick has extensive “hands-on” management experience in all areas of risk management.
Prior to joining Edwards Risk Management in 1994, Rick was employed with a large school district in Texas, where he served as Director of Employee Services/Risk Manager. He was responsible for the district’s risk management/insurance programs for over 1,000 employees and managed the day-to-day operation of auxiliary personnel. In the mid 1980's Rick moved through the ranks from property appraisals and loss control, to serve as the Director of a state-wide workers’ compensation program, where his duties included planning, coordinating and directing all administration, loss control and claims administration services for 1,100+ members with $115 million in annual premiums and 80,000+ claims per year. Rick has also been called upon to develop and consult with other state school board associations in the development of their risk management and loss control programs.
Rick graduated from Le Tourneau University with a Bachelor of Science/Business Management. He has specialized training from the International Loss Control Institute and Risk Management Insurance Society. Rick holds memberships with the American Society of Safety Engineers, National Safety Council, Texas Safety Association, and PRIMA (Public Risk Management Association). Rick also holds a Multi-Lines Adjuster License, as well as a Group I Life and Health License from the Texas Department of Insurance. Contact Rick
