Yolanda Sanchez Named Texas Bus Driver-of-the-Year
May 22, 2009 - Yolanda Sanchez, Round Rock ISD school bus driver, was honored May 21, 2009 at the Round Rock ISD Board of Trustees Meeting as the 2009 PCAT Texas School Bus Driver-of-the-Year. The award is sponsored by the Property Casualty Alliance of Texas (PCAT), through Edwards Risk Management and North American Solutions. Ms. Sanchez was also recognized for being the RRISD 2009 Bus Driver-of-the-Year.
The award is based upon mulitple driver attributes: Leadership, Attitude, Perseverence, Student and Parent Relationships, and Technical Skill. "The student transportation industry enjoys a stellar safety record, in large part because of the daily efforts of well trained and caring school bus drivers. Ms. Sanchez is a leader and mentor, deeply concerned for the safety and welfare of her schoolchildren, and for her fellow bus drivers," commented Aaron Ramsey of Edwards Risk Management.
"Round Rock ISD is fortunate to have Yolanda as a part of our family" said Superintendent Dr. Jesus Chavez. "She demonstartes the passion and love for children that we hope all our employees exemplify on a daily basis."
Presenting the award to Ms. Chanchez were Jack W. Melton, Jr. of North American Solutions and Aaron Ramsey of Edwards Risk Management.
