PCAT Names Jose Guadalupe Rivera 2020-2021 Statewide Bus Driver of the Year
Edinburg, Texas, March 30, 2021 — Bus Driver Jose Guadalupe Rivera was honored by Edinburg CISD on Wednesday, March 30, as the 2020-2021 Statewide Bus Driver of the Year by PCAT.
Now in its 17th year, the PCAT Bus Driver of the Year program recognized 61 drivers as their district’s 2020-2021 Bus Driver of the Year. These awards are based upon multiple driver attributes including Leadership, Attitude, Perseverance, Student and Parent Relationships, and Technical Skill.
Of the 61 District honorees, five drivers were named 2020-2021 PCAT Regional Bus Drivers of the Year. The Regional designation represents an even higher level of achievement. The Statewide Bus Driver of the Year award is presented to just one PCAT school district bus driver and represents the highest level of dedication and accomplishment.
Mr. Guadalupe Rivera was presented with a $1,000 check, a personalized jacket, a commendation and an engraved plaque from the PCAT Bus Driver of the Year program. A plaque commemorating Mr. Guadalupe Rivera’s achievement was also awarded to Edinburg CISD.
Agent Chase Carlisle of Carlisle Insurance presented the award. Mr. Guadalupe Rivera says he feels ‘very proud, happy and highly honored to be recognized. It’s been a very humbling experience.’ Mr. Guadalupe Rivera has been a bus driver with Edinburg CISD for approximately 21 years and has a near-perfect attendance record. He is recognized by his peers as being an excellent, loyal, and safe driver with an exemplary positive attitude. A team player, he is always smiling and full of good energy and helps boost the morale of coworkers.
