PCAT Names Fate Breedlove 2025–2026 Statewide Bus Driver of the Year

Cypress, Texas — On Monday, May 4th, 2026, Fate Breedlove of East Bernard ISD was named 2025–2026 Statewide Bus Driver of the Year by PCAT in recognition of his service.

Now in its 22nd year, the PCAT Bus Driver of the Year program recognizes drivers based upon multiple driver attributes including Leadership, Attitude, Perseverance, Student and Parent Relationships, and Technical Skill.

This year, 66 PCAT drivers have been honored as their District’s2025-2026 PCAT Bus Driver of the Year. The 2025-2026PCAT Statewide Bus Driver of the Year award that was presented to Mr. Breedlove is presented to just one PCAT school district bus driver and represents the highest level of dedication and accomplishment.

Aaron Ramsey of INSURICA Risk and Claims Management presented Mr. Breedlove with the Statewide award on behalf of PCAT. The award included a $2,500 check, a Statewide Bus Driver of the Year 20-oz. tumbler, a Statewide Bus Driver of the Year tote, a commendation, and an engraved plaque from the PCAT Bus Driver of the Year program. A plaque commemorating Mr. Breedlove’s achievement was also awarded to East Bernard ISD.

East Bernard ISD nominated Mr. Breedlove in recognition of his exceptional dedication, professionalism, and leadership. Safety is always Mr. Breedlove’s priority, and he is known for his cautious driving and close attention to detail. He not only practices safe driving—he teaches it—taking initiative to help train both students and fellow drivers on bus safety procedures, emergency preparedness, and best practices behind the wheel. His technical skill and understanding of transportation safety protocols have made him a valued mentor and trusted leader within the transportation department.

Mr. Breedlove’s perseverance is another hallmark of his service. While balancing responsibilities as a first responder with his role as a bus driver, he consistently demonstrates reliability, discipline, and a strong commitment to the community. Even after long hours serving others, he continues to show up with enthusiasm and pride, helping ensure students have a safe and positive experience each day.

Leadership comes naturally to Mr. Breedlove. He is known for guiding new drivers through safety drills, helping refine route procedures, and building respectful relationships with students. The nomination noted that students enjoy riding his bus and that he takes time to get to know his riders—asking about their day, offering encouragement, and serving as a steady, positive presence.
